Please would everyone register some basic details here - there have been many email/member lists over the years and it is hoped we can consolidate these into one list.

Member Profile: Pete Marsland (2005-2007)

Posted: Sunday 25th October 2009

Pete Marsland commenced his rowing career at NUBC in the winter of 2005 under the watchful eye of Tom Kingham before graduating in 2007 and undertaking a number of degrees at Cambridge University.

Whilst at Nottingham he won his first Great Britain vest, finishing 3rd in the Coxed Four at the U23 World Championships in Strathclyde. He has subsequently represented Great Britain in a number of other regattas including two World Cups, finishing 8th on both occasions and was selected as the ‘spare man’ for the 2009 World Championships in Poznan - alongside other alumni Chris Bartley (Lwt 4- ), Olivia Whitlam (2- ), and Tina Stiller and Mel Wilson (8+ ). Pete was selected for Cambridge University Blue Boat in the annual Boat Race against Oxford in both 2008 and 2009. In 2008, Pete won the Stewards' Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in a Cambridge University crew and in 2009 won the Grand Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta in a Leander and Molesey Boat Club composite crew.

Despite finding time to have lost two Boat Races he maintains that his toughest rowing experience was racing six times in one day at Nottingham City Regatta in the sleek “Bruton and Seldon.”

He is currently training fulltime at the national centre in Caversham.
